Best Western Owner Spotlight

BEST WESTERN PLUS Columbia River Inn
Cascade Locks, OR

Supporting the communities where we live and work is a core value at Best Western - especially at the family-owned BEST WESTERN PLUS Columbia River Inn.

Located about 35 miles outside Portland, OR, in rural Cascade Locks, the hotel is one of the larger businesses in town.

That's why owners Kirk and Carol Bausch invest heavily in giving back to their local area through room night and cash donations and community service.

The Salvation Army and Cascade Locks Food Bank are beneficiaries of gently-used items the hotel can no longer use, including linens, shampoo, conditioner, soap and other guest room amenities.

Hotel General Manager Sandy Place personally spends hours volunteering to promote the Roy Webster Cross Channel Swim, Harvest Festival, Blossom Festival and other events put on by the Hood River County Chamber of Commerce.

Other organizations the hotel contributes to include the local Lions Club, American Cancer Society, Oregon Humane Society, Hood River SMART (Start Making a Reader Today) and the local SOLV clean-up.

While the BEST WESTERN PLUS Columbia River Inn acts locally, it also makes a difference globally.

By sponsoring a child through World Vision, Best Western's charity of choice, the hotel helps provide food, clothing, education and medical care and other necessities. Front desk staff members take the sponsorship a step further by putting together Honduras-bound care packages filled with books, stickers, pencils and other items to make the child's life a little better.
