Dilipkumar ‘Danny’ Patel is serving a second three-year term on the Best Western Board of Directors. Mr. Patel has more than 25 years of hospitality experience and served as the 2014 chairman of the Board. He represents hotel owners in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and the Caribbean.
A Best Western member for more than 20 years, he has served the brand as a governor and a member of the Design Advisory Committee. He has also served as chairman for the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) and a director on the board of the Georgia Hotel & Lodging Association (GH&LA). Mr. Patel is an expert in all facets of the hospitality industry, including acquisition, construction, planning, development, design, management and finance.
Mr. Patel was born and raised in Gujarat, India, and moved to the United States after attending college in India. He learned the hotel business from the ground up, starting at a family-owned hotel in Huntsville, Ala. With the help of educational programs from AAHOA and other hospitality institutions, he enhanced his development and operational knowledge.
With the 1990 purchase of his first hotel in Montezuma, Ga., Mr. Patel launched Peach State Hospitality, the hotel development and management company of which he remains CEO. Peach State has developed 32 branded and independent hotels in Georgia and Alabama, with Mr. Patel serving as general contractor for most of the projects. Mr. Patel is also founder of the American Pride Bank, a community-based bank with branches in Macon and Warner Robins, Ga. He currently serves as the bank’s chairman.
Mr. Patel has addressed the National Association of Black Hotel Owners Operators and Developers (nabhood.com), the GH&LA, and state-level hospitality associations, and is a frequent contributor to industry publications. He has also spoken at academic institutions including Vallabh Vidyanagar and Gopal Vidyanagar Universities in India.
Mr. Patel is an active humanitarian and fundraiser who serves on the boards of several non-profit organizations. He adheres to the highest standards of honesty, integrity and accountability in all his endeavors.
Mr. Patel and his wife have two children and live in Kathleen, Ga.
