Dave Francis was first elected to serve on Best Western Board of Directors in June 2005. He was re-elected to serve a second three-year term in October 2009. He has served as the Board’s secretary/treasurer, vice chairman, and completed a one-year term as chairman of the board in 2008. He has served on the brand’s International Executive Committee and the International Brand Management and Marketing and Technology functional teams. Francis also served as chairman of the Board’s Communication’s Committee.
Francis, a Certified Hotel Administrator, owns and operates the Best Western of Lynchburg in Lynchburg, Va. Francis represents the interests of Best Western’s District VII hoteliers in Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island.
Before his election to the Board, Francis served in leadership roles with Best Western as a governor for West Virginia, Maryland, and Virginia. He is also past chairman of Best Western’s Member Marketing Advisory Committee and past chairman of Best Western’s Mid-Atlantic Co-op.
He is a college instructor teaching finance and strategic management at Averett University in Danville, Va. He graduated from Averett University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and earned an MBA from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va. Francis and his wife, Susan, reside in Forest, Va.
