Mark Straszynski was named Chief Financial Officer of Best Western International, The World’s Largest Hotel Chain®, in June 2008. In this role, Straszynski sets strategic financial direction for the iconic brand, overseeing finance, accounting, treasury and risk management.
He also sits on the brand’s senior executive team, which shapes and executes Best Western’s long-term strategies.
As a financial executive, Straszynski has extensive experience running a global finance department. Before joining Best Western, Straszynski served as corporate controller and treasurer at Chicago-based United Plastics Group, Inc. He was a change agent for the $200 million global contract manufacturing company, executing a successful restructuring and turnaround growth strategy.
Straszynski started his career in consulting, serving in senior audit positions for Ernst & Young LLP and Grant Thornton LLP.
The Chicago native earned a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Northern Illinois University.
Straszyinski is a certified public accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois Certified Public Accountants Society.
