Welcome to Madrid, the capitol of Spain and one of the world's finest and most fun filled cities. Madrid is known for its great weather all year round, fantastic site seeing, and exciting atmosphere. Around town are beautiful monuments, historic buildings and shops, and great food that can only be found in its perfection in Spain. Come with us as we give you a quick tour around this beautiful and historic European city.

Madrid is famous for its beauty and traditional feel, but what some may not know is that it is also home to some of the most entertaining museums in Europe. The Queen Sophia Arts Center houses some of Spain's most exotic modern art as well as works from those around the world. Artists such as Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso make this museum a must-see on anyone's itinerary. For history buffs, there is the beautiful castle Palacio Real. This large and very attractive castle was built for and inhabited by the King of Spain up until 1931. Here visitors can view rooms that are fully decorated with the finest of furniture found in the 18th and 19th centuries with decorations such as diamond clocks and porcelain salons. In the armory, guests can find old Spanish war weapons not seen anywhere else. While visiting the Palacia Real, be sure to catch the changing of the guards which occurs the first Wednesday of each month at high noon. This attraction is a site to see and should be allotted at least 90 minutes for the trip through.

The Plaza Mayor is probably the most famous of attractions in Spain as it is the largest open area meeting grounds in the city. In this area lies some of the city's most popular shops, restaurants, musical acts, and street vendors. This large court is a favorite among locals and tourists alike and has gained a wonderful reputation as being a great resting area. Those wanting to experience the nightlife of Madrid should visit the Kapital Club, which has 7 floors of wildly different music and ambience. Those wanting a wilder experience in Madrid should explore the history of Spain's favorite past-time, bullfighting.

Bullfighting is extremely popular in Spain, most of all in Madrid. Travelers can seek knowledge on the history of Bullfighting at the Museo Taurino (bullfighting museum) or view a bullfighting match at the Las Ventas. The Museo Taurino serves as a good introduction to bullfighting for those who want to see the real event (or those who don't). If you want to view a match, bullfighting season starts in March and ends in December, and is celebrated everyday during the San Isidro Fiesta, and every Sunday or holiday during the season. Bullfights start at 6 or 7pm and last for two to three hours.

As you can see, Madrid is a place for people of all ages and it has something for everyone from modern museums, bullfighting matches, and numerous shops and restaurants. Begin planning your trip to Madrid >
