Santa Fe is situated 7,000 feet in the foothills of the southern Rocky Mountains and founded between 1607 and 1610, making it the second oldest city as well as the highest and oldest capital in the U.S. Santa Fe was originally occupied by a number of Pueblo Indian villages, reflecting in the mix of cultural influences which are clearly described in the city's arts community and architectural designs.
