Santa Fe is situated 7,000 feet in the foothills of the southern Rocky Mountains and founded between 1607 and 1610, making it the second oldest city as well as the highest and oldest capital in the U.S. Santa Fe was originally occupied by a number of Pueblo Indian villages, reflecting in the mix of cultural influences which are clearly described in the city's arts community and architectural designs. Santa Fe is home to several prominent art museums such as the Georgia O'Keeffe and the Museum of International Folk Art, and the Rancho de las Golondrinas.

Santa Fe Plaza - The Plaza has been the heart and soul of Santa Fe for nearly 400 years. This gathering spot for residents and tourists alike is surrounded by city landmarks, shops and restaurants.

Today, those who gather around the central monument enjoy the best people-watching in New Mexico. Palace of the Governors - To get a firm understanding of New Mexico's rich past, visit this museum on the Santa Fe Plaza. Built by the Spanish as a government building in 1610, the Palace remains the nation's oldest continuously used public building.
Georgia O'Keeffe Museum - This beautiful facility can easily be considered one of the country's most important museums housing the works of one of the century's most important artists. The 13,000 square-foot museum is located in downtown Santa Fe and is convenient to the Plaza.

Santa Fe Outlets - Outlet shopping fans will enjoy this open-air mall on the south end of town with main anchoring stores including Brooks Brothers, Jones New York, and Coach.
