Best Western Quadruples Industry Average for Certificates
PHOENIX (June 4, 2013) – Best Western International, the World’s Biggest Hotel Family®, announced 1,573 Best Western hotels globally received TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence. The figure represents 41 percent of Best Western hotels worldwide. The Best Western brand has one of the highest percentages of properties receiving the honor.
This highly coveted award is determined by customer experience ratings and is usually awarded to just 10 percent of total hotels listed on TripAdvisor.com making Best Western’s percentage of hotels included all the more impressive. To qualify for the Certificate of Excellence, businesses must maintain an overall rating of four or higher, out of a possible five, as reviewed by TripAdvisor users.
In North America, 883 Best Western hotels TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence this year. The figure represents 34 percent increase over last year’s total of 658 Best Western hotels in North America. The total includes hotels across all three descriptor categories - BEST WESTERN®, BEST WESTERN PLUS®, BEST WESTERN PREMIER® - indicating guests are delighted with the offerings and amenities at each type of hotel.
“We want to thank our loyal customers for making Best Western one of the most highly rated brands on TripAdvisor,” said Best Western International President and CEO David Kong. “The number of Best Western properties earning this recognition from customer reviews validates our focus on superior care as Best Western’s distinguishing attribute.”
Best Western’s “Stay With People Who CareSM” advertising campaign showcasing its commitment to providing superior customer care began earlier this year. The campaign builds on Best Western’s recent I Care® programs, which have dramatically improved customer satisfaction scores and set the brand apart from its competitors.
“We’re excited reviewers felt the experience at more than 1,500 of our hotels consistently merited a four or five star review,” said Dorothy Dowling, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Best Western International. “The growing number of these outstanding reviews shows Best Western is known for more than just a great value. We are also increasingly known for providing a great guest experience.”
98 percent of Best Western hotels are ranked three stars or higher on TripAdvisor. In 2012, Best Western’s redesigned bestwestern.com to enhance the user experience, including integrating TripAdvisor hotel reviews on the site.
The TripAdvisor distinctions follow a recent Brand Keys survey which for the fourth year in a row named Best Western the number one brand in the mid-scale hotel market in creating brand loyalty.
