Redwood National Park: See the World’s Tallest Trees
Stretching along the coast of Northern California, Redwood National Park is home to the tallest trees on the planet. Awe-inspiring redwoods push their way into the sky from the misty floors of the old-growth temperate rainforests. Wander through peaceful prairies, follow winding rivers, and encounter wooded groves of oaks. There’s also 40 miles of wild coastline to explore in this lush landscape of incredible biodiversity.
Watch for gray whales off the coast at Klamath River Overlook, and spot sea lions on the beach from High Bluff Overlook. Amble up 200 miles of hiking trails in the dry season or go horseback riding and mountain biking. Kayak or canoe along the Smith River, a prized fishing stream for salmon, steelhead, and rainbow route. Find picnic areas at the park’s three visitors centers, along with information about guided forest walks and campfire talks. Most of all – give yourself plenty of time to connect with the grandeur of nature.
