Peter Kwong was elected to the Best Western® Hotels & Resorts Board of Directors in 2015 to represent the interests of hotel owners in California, Nevada and Hawaii.
Kwong has more than 35 years in the hotel industry and has been a member of Best Western for 25 years. He previously served as a governor for the brand, as well as Board Chairman in 2020. He has also been a member of the District VI Marketing Co-op and the Best Western Reservation Technology Committee.
Kwong has ownership in two hotels including the Best Western Plus Dragon Gate Inn in Los Angeles, California. Additionally, he is an owner in KDI – a real estate development company in Los Angeles.
Kwong also has extensive experience outside of the hotel industry serving as chairman and director of Golden Security Bank for 25 years.
Additionally, Kwong has held prominent positions in several professional organizations, including serving as director of the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau, director and former vice president of the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau, director and former vice president of the Los Angeles Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and former director and founding member of the Chinatown Business Improvement District. Kwong has also been very active in community organizations such as the Community Police Advisory Board for the Los Angeles Police Department, the Citizens Safety Patrol for the South Pasadena Police Department, and is a former commissioner of the South Pasadena Redevelopment Commission.
Kwong is a graduate of the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business, earning a bachelor of science in real estate finance and development and a minor in music specializing in performing arts. Kwong is an avid pianist and a 3rd degree black belt.
