Morven Park, just 3.8 miles from Best Western Leesburg, was once the home of Virginia Governor Westmoreland Davis. Comprised of 1,000 acres and three museums, it hosts numerous equestrian events, educational and recreational programs, and acres of stunning woodlands, mountainous ridge, historic buildings, and formal gardens.

Despite the climb, this final 10 mile section of the trail between Leesburg and Purcellville is by far the nicest. The trail winds through some very scenic terrain, and is mostly shaded."
Oatlands, a National Trust site, encompasses 360 acres in scenic easements and features a Greek Revival mansion, circa 1804, rare 19th century brick dependencies including America's oldest restored propagation greenhouse, circa 1810, and a magnificent 4-acre English terraced garden.

The Battle of Ball's Bluff on October 21, 1861, was one of the early battles of the Civil War. A 300-man Union party crossed the Potomac to raid a Confederate camp, only to discover the "camp" was actually a row of trees that had been mistaken for tents. You can walk the battlefield at Ball's Bluff Regional Park, 2.8 miles from Best Western Leesburg.
Ball's Bluff is home to the third smallest National Cemetery in the U.S. Fifty-four Union Army dead from the Battle of Ball's Bluff are interred in 25 graves in the half-acre plot; the identity of all of the interred except for one, James Allen of the 15th Massachusetts, are unknown.
