Sure Hotel by Best Western Kongensbro Kro, founded in 1663, sits by the river Gudenaen and has been run by the Andersen family for over 60 years. With its central location, the inn is an ideal starting point for weddings and events, gourmet experiences in the restaurant, or as a base for exploring central and eastern Jutland.
The inn has a warm, historic atmosphere and is surrounded by beautiful nature, perfect for luxury hikes on the “KRO” MINOEN trail, weekend or gourmet stays, golf trips, canoe holidays, and mini-breaks. Nearby attractions include Aarhus, Silkeborg, and Randers Rainforest, and the staff can help arrange canoe tours on Gudenaen. Tange So Golf Course is just a 10-minute drive away.
The restaurant serves a blend of traditional Danish dishes and modern cuisine, known especially for its homemade classics and French-inspired cooking. Today, the inn is run by Christian Andersen, continuing the culinary traditions established by his grandmother, Else Andersen, who wrote eight cookbooks and helped shape the inn’s reputation. Her motto, “Inn food is good food,” still guides the kitchen.
Historically, the inn was known as Pramdragerkroen, as Gudenaen was once a major transport route through Jutland. Barges were pulled by men and horses along the riverbank, and a preserved “Swot Pejer” pole near the inn recalls this history.
Today, Kongensbro Kro is a modern country inn with tastefully renovated rooms overlooking the garden and the river. All rooms feature new comfort beds and 40" LED TVs with 20 free channels. The inn also offers facilities for courses and day meetings.
