Hotel Overview
The story of Lillesand Hotel Norway begins in 1837 when the Irish rebel Robert Gonsalvo Major fled his homeland and settled in Lillesand. He built a bark mill and tannery, in which the oldest part of the hotel has its origins.
The hotel first opened in 1873, when Lillesand experienced its glory days as a shipping town. Since then, the hotel has had many owners and is currently owned and run by local girl Beate Holm Topfer and her German husband Wolfgang Topfer under the name Hotel Norge.
The hotel offers modern amenities and comfort. At the same time, you will also be taken back in time, through interior and atmosphere. To the time when the famous Norwegian author Knut Hamsun lived in room 302, or when the Spanish King Alfonso became so excited about the room, the view and the people that he in 1931 carved the words "Alfonso Rex" into the mirror.
Just outside the door you will find the pier in Lillesand and a pedestrian street with charming little shops. Lillesand and the surrounding areas have much to offer.
