Built in 1832 in late-Georgian style, The Bold Hotel is Southport's oldest hotel, standing amid the Victorian grandeur of Lord Street, the elegant tree-lined boulevard that runs through the heart of this Merseyside seaside town. The Grade II-listed building has been handsomely refurbished, and many of the twenty-three rooms keep their large bay windows looking out over the street below. The carvery has a loyal local following, and the front terrace is made for watching the world go by.

The location puts the best of Southport on foot. The pier, the beach and the cultural quarter at The Atkinson are all close, and the rail station is a five-minute walk.

Lord Street carries a story worth knowing. The exiled Louis Napoleon stayed in the town in the 1830s and is said to have admired the canopied boulevard so much that it inspired the grand avenues he later built across Paris.
