Home to the Manitoba Lotteries Men’s Curling Classic on the World Curling Tour, the Brandon Curling Club is a popular destination for curling enthusiasts of all ages. The eight-sheet curling rink has upper and lower viewing lounges and the viewing areas accommodate for over 300 people. You can participate in club activities or rent the venue for a special event.
Another ice curling destination that offers a range of programs is the Burntwood Curling Club. Head here to catch the bonspiel tournaments or attend a clinic if it’s your first-time curling. The club offers equipment rentals and also has its own pro shop. Head to the Burntwood Curling Club lounge to relax after games on the ice and enjoy nightly drink specials.
If you’re in the mood for a few rounds of golf, head to the John Blumberg Golf Course. This 27-hole golf course is located north of the Assiniboine River. It's been serving golf enthusiasts since 1969 and boasts an 18-hole championship-level golf course with beautiful fairways. This golf course is open to all skill levels.
One of the newest sports venues in the region, the MTS Center is a multi-purpose facility and also the home of the Winnipeg Jets National Hockey League Team. Thousands of visitors make their way here for a hockey game during hockey seasons but it’s also a popular venue for concerts and live entertainment. This is the place to watch the AHL All Star Classic or the World U-17 Hockey Challenge.
If you want to flex your hockey skills or just watch emerging athletes in action, head to the MTS Iceplex. This is Manitoba’s largest hockey training center and attracts hundreds of visitors from North America for camp events and training activities. You don’t have to be a pro to train here and you can practice on one of four regular size ice rinks. The venue is open 365 days a year.
Athletes of all ages can spend some time at the Sport For Life Centre, a sport training facility located in a renovated 100-year-old building. The venue is a sports performance center and has a dedicated area for sports rehab. It’s also home to the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame where you can learn about some of Manitoba’s best-performing athletes. Visit the sport medicine center for recovery and rehab services.
