Take in a Soccer Match in Ontario
Yorkdale Shopping Centre
Opened in 1964, the Yorkdale Shopping Centre is one of the largest of its kind in Toronto. With 250 stores and more than 130,000 square metres of retail space, stop in on your visit to the Toronto area to find gifts and souvenirs for back home.
Plan your next visit to Toronto and check out some of the most exceptional shopping in the area. The Yorkdale Shopping Centre features a wide range of top designer stores and a slew of great deals throughout the year. Other nearby attractions you can see when done shopping include the Royal Ontario Museum, and the Toronto Zoo.
Don't Miss the Toronto FC or the North York Astros
On your next Ontario visit, treat the entire family to some exciting soccer matches. Ontario features several soccer clubs from the Canadian Soccer League and Major League Soccer in cities like Toronto, Brampton, and London.
Plan a stay in the Toronto Metro Area and be sure to check out BMO Field, only minutes from downtown Toronto, and home of the Toronto FC. BMO Field seats 21,566 fans come match day.
Founded in 2006, the Toronto FC are a popular MLS team, becoming the first MLS team in Canada when they were incepted into the league. The MLS season kicks off each year in early March. Toronto-area cities like Oshawa, Newmarket, and Burlington make for ideal destinations when hoping to catch a Toronto FC match.
Another Toronto-area team soccer team is the York Region Shooters. The Shooters are part of the popular Canadian Soccer League, and play all home matches at the St. Joan of Arc Turf Field, only minutes from Richmond Hill and Mississauga. They were founded in 1998. The York Region Shooters share the area with another local CSL team, the North York Astros.
Continue your visit from the Toronto area and explore southern Ontario. Make your way to London, found between Sarnia and Woodstock, where you'll be treated to exciting London City soccer matches. London City, too, is CSL member, and was founded in 1973. You can see them live when they play home matches at the Hellenic Centre Stadium. The CSL kicks off their season, typically, in mid to late April.
In Brampton, another charming Toronto suburb just minutes from Georgetown and Milton, you'll want to visit the Victoria Park Stadium – it's home to the Brampton United soccer club. Watch as the Brampton United don their classic yellow and gold and play against other CSL teams.
