Only minutes inland from Lake Michigan, and easily accessed from Interstate 96 and Interstate 196, Grand Rapids is a premier city in the region. Along with some must-see attractions like the Gerald R. Ford Museum, and the John Ball Zoo, you can also partake in any of the local festivals and events.
In early December, be sure to check out the Grand Rapids Heart Ball. The Grand Rapids Heart Ball will be held at the DeVos Place, and it will be celebrating those in the area who have worked towards curing cardiovascular disease and stroke. You can make the short drive in from nearby Wyoming or Holland.

For fans of cold brews, the Annual Winter Beer Festival is a can’t-miss. Make your way to the West Michigan Whitecaps Baseball Park in late February for a chance to sample craft beer from more than 100 Michigan Breweries. The West Michigan Whitecaps Baseball Park is found in Comstock Park, just to the north Grand Rapids.
Make sure you venture into Flint this fall or winter and check out a very exciting hockey game. Visit the Dort Federal Credit Union Center, home ice of the Flint Firebirds. The Firebirds play in the Ontario Hockey League, and this is their second year in existence.

This region is encompassing just north of Mt. Pleasant, just south of Charlotte, on U.S. 131 on the west and the Bay City-Flint line on the east. Day trips and road tours are a fun way to explore Central Michigan.
