Lakes & Rivers in Michigan

When visiting the northern region of Michigan, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is a must-see destination. Encompassing over 40 miles of shoreline along Lake Superior, this park features some of Michigan’s most dazzling scenery. The area gets its name from the towering, 200-foot sandstone cliffs that house sights like the Indian Head, Bridalveil Falls, and Miner’s Castle. While at the park, visitors can also gain some historical context by checking out the variety of maritime sites throughout the area, like Au Sable Light Station.
With a surface area of nearly 16,000 acres, Lake Allegan is a premier destination for your visit into Michigan. Found in the Allegan, a charming city set between Suagatuck and Kalamazoo, Lake Allegan is excellent year round.
On your summer visit, enjoy fun swimming holes, boating adventures, and fishing – many anglers catch salmon, walleye, carp, catfish, and even bass. During the winter, enjoy snowmobiling the Allegan Snowmobile Trail System, which takes you near the river and through downtown Allegan.
