Catch the Chicago Marathon in Illinois
This annual event featuring running from more than 100 nations takes place in October each year and runs through central Chicago. The Chicago Marathon has become one of the biggest events in the city and includes pre- and post-race festivities. In addition to cheering on the marathon runners or running the course yourself, you can see the exhibits and vendor booths at the Abbot Health & Fitness Expo or attend the 27th Mile Post-Race Party at Butler Field.
The marathon is designed for both athletes and non-athletes, as well as for spectators who simply want to join the festivities and show their support for their favorite runners and groups. The race ends at Grant Park, so you can explore some local attractions and visit some of the city’s best restaurants. Explore attractions like The Art Institute of Chicago and Millennium Park during your visit. You’ll find softball diamonds, public art pieces and miles of bike paths and the Aaron Montgomery Ward sculpture here.
