Anderson Center for the Arts

One of the most unique aspects pertaining to the Anderson Center for the Arts is this: it's found in the old Carnegie Public Library, which itself is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This arts center hosts four different major exhibits throughout the year, and features a wide range of permanent art.

Indianapolis Museum of Art

As one of the premier attractions found within Indianapolis – some might even argue the entire state – the Indianapolis Museum of Art is a must-visit. Found directly north of downtown along West 38th Street, the IMA yields full days of tours, talks, performances, and a wide range of top art displays. After a $74 million expansion in 2005, the IMA is bigger and better than ever. The IMA is an encyclopedic art museum – the 8th largest, and 9th oldest of the kind in the U.S. Each year, nearly half a million visitors pass through the doors at the IMA – be one of them!

Fort Wayne Museum of Art

Set in its current spot since 1984, the Fort Wayne Museum of Art has amassed a collection of 1,400 works of art in its permanent collection. Born from a generous donation of 10 paintings by Theodore F. Thieme in 1921, the museum features mainly American art from 1850 on.

Artists like Thomas Young and Louis Lozowick are featured with works in the permanant collection. In addition, one-of-a-kind pieces can be found, such as the bust of Christopher Columbus created by Richard Greenough. Education and engagement of the local community of Fort Wayne are among the main goals of the Fort Wayne Museum of Art.

In order to accomplish this mission the museum offers talks, tours, an art library, and opportunities for interaction in the learning center. The museum welcomes all ages to view and interact with various exhibits. Events are held on a regular basis to engage the community as well as to expand their artistic horizons.

National Art Museum of Sport

Located on the Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis, the National Art Museum of Sport was established more than 50 years ago. This Indianapolis museum showcases over 900 pieces of sport art. Stroll the museum to view the heroes and heroines of over 40 sports including, golf, boxing, baseball, basketball, tennis, swimming, soccer, hockey and football. The museum's collections are one of America's largest collections of sport art. Permanent exhibits include Commitment to Excellence in Art & Sport, 2011 & Football Invitational, among others.
