There’s More To Cleveland Than Rock And Roll

Cleveland is the Rock and Roll City – the term was coined here by a radio host and the iconic Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is along the city’s sparkling waterfront, but there’s more to this city than loud music.

Founded in the late 1700s, the city flourished due to its location along a major rail line and Lake Erie, but today it’s diversified beyond transportation and manufacturing into a leading tech and research center — here you’ll find the renowned Cleveland Clinic as well as a NASA facility.

The city’s renowned history is reflected in its cultural offerings. The Playhouse Square Center is the second largest performing arts center in the United States – it’s home to five separate theaters which present plays, musicals, special concerts, and speaking engagements from renowned masters. Downtown you can find cultural offerings from the highly-ranked Cleveland Orchestra to the Polka Hall of Fame.

The Cleveland Museum of Art has a collection of 40,000 pieces spanning more than 6,000 years. The Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland showcases local artists and emerging talent from around the world.

Cleveland is home to immigrants from around the world, and that diversity is reflected in the city’s restaurant scene. Wander through neighborhoods like Little Italy, Slavic Village, and Tremont, and dig into local favorites like kielbasa, stuffed cabbage, and pierogis.

The city is a pro sports powerhouse, and you can see some of the best in the business here. The Indians play major league baseball while the Browns have a storied pro football history. The Cavaliers play at Quicken Loans Arena to one of the rowdiest crowds in the nation.

Care to be your own star? Cleveland gets huge dumps in the winter, and you can carve up the slopes of Boston Mills and Brandywine ski areas. Like your fun on two wheels? There are some hidden gems in the city for mountain bikers. Prefer to get on the water? Rent a boat from one of the lakefront marinas or sign up for a sailing charter.

While the city has plenty of great green spaces, none are better than Cuyahoga Valley National Park, which is a haven for native plants and wildlife and where the region’s rich history is preserved.

Bring your bike, bring your eye for art, or bring your appetite – whatever you are pursuing you’ll find plenty to do in Cleveland.
