Housed in a historic building, the center is designed to get children excited about STEM subjects. Exhibits include Alabama Dinosaurs and Sea Monsters, Fox 6 Weather Lab, Science on A Sphere, World of Water Aquarium, and Shark and Ray Touch Tank. An IMAX Dome Theater presents science-focused films. Explore Bitty Magic City, High Cycle, Nature Scope, and the Collections Center.
The U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville is one of the most popular attractions in the state. Open since 1970, it is the largest spaceflight museum in the world. A joint effort of the U.S. Army Missile Command and NASA, the museum contains a rocket and space hardware collection valued at millions of dollars. The impressive collection of more than 1,500 space-related items includes America’s first satellite, Explorer I, and the Saturn V moon rocket. View the Apollo 16 command module, tour a Skylab orbital workshop and marvel at the Apollo 12 Moon Rock. Visitors can experience astronaut training simulators like SpaceShot and G-Force or view a real space flight at the Spacedome IMAX Theater.
