Fun Festivals for Everyone in Louisiana

Enjoy mouth-watering food, live music, rides, and games at the Andouille Festival. If you like jazz, you have to find a way to get to the Big Easy for the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Bask in the wonders of the artistic contributions celebrating Louisiana’s French heritage and its connection to the greater Francophone world at the Festival International de Louisiane.

Head out to Shreveport and enjoy a host of events such as Let the Good Times Roll, Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, MudBug Madness, Festapalooza, and Holiday in Dixie at Festival Plaza. Take part in a bass tournament, beauty pageant, rodeo, and much more at the Louisiana Forest Festival.

Soak in the holiday spirit for the month-long Natchitoches Christmas Festival, running from the first Saturday of December through New Year’s Day. Experience the Strawberry Eating Contest, the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival Parade, or Strawberry Strut Fun Runs at the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival.

Andouille Festival

Held annually in LaPlace within Louisiana's Plantation Country, the Andouille Festival is a family-friendly staple within the community. The event is hosted at the St. John Community Center over the course of three days in October.

The festival is known for its abundance of food, music, and festival fun, including gumbo cook-offs, the "Dang Douille" silent auction, and more. The festival is presented by the St. John the Baptist Parish.

Festival International de Louisiane

Established in 1987, the annual Festival International de Louisiane draws nearly 400,000 attendees to downtown Lafayette each April. This major music and arts festival is held in the heart of Cajun Country along Interstate 10 in southern Louisiana.

The Festival International de Louisiane celebrates Cajun, French, and Acadian cultures with creole cooking, Zydeco music, and much more. Manned by volunteers, FIL features a vast market, four stages, and a kid's area.

Festival Plaza

Host of the annual Red River Revel, Festival Plaza is a multipurpose venue serving the city of Shreveport. Set on the Red River in northern Louisiana, the plaza is part of the Downtown Riverfront neighborhood.

Just off of Interstate 20, Festival Plaza also hosts Shreveport events like Let The Good Times Roll, Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, MudBug Madness, Festapalooza, and Holiday in Dixie – plus farmers’ markets, concerts, and more.

Louisiana Forest Festival

Featuring a wide range of events, the Louisiana Forest Festival is a favorite among northern Louisiana festivals. A one-day festival typically held the fourth weekend in April, the Louisiana Forest Festival takes place at the Winn Parish Fairgrounds just south of downtown Winnfield – just east of Mansfield and south of Monroe.

Must-see events at the Louisiana Forest Festival include the Bass Tournament at Saline Lake, the Beauty Pageant, and the APRA Rodeo. There are also 13 different lumberjack-style events and including 6 chainsaw events, as well as live music, food vendors, and kids zones.

Natchitoches Christmas Festival

This holiday season, make your travel plans for Louisiana and visit Natchitoches, home of the annual Natchitoches Christmas Festival. A month-long celebration kicking off on the first Saturday in December, the Natchitoches Christmas Festival runs through New Years day with a wide range of events throughout.

The festival kicks off with an early afternoon parade, plenty of arts & crafts shows, live entertainment, and the day of capped with an impressive fireworks display. Don't forget to head for Cane River where officials dazzle the crowd with the lighting of the more than 3,000 Christmas Lights and other holiday decorations.

New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival

Every year in late April and early May, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, commonly referred to as Jazz Fest, lights up the Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots with music, food and shopping. Some of the biggest names in music frequent the event, including previous headliners like Miles Davis, Aretha Franklin, Bob Dylan and Ella Fitzgerald.

The festival is known for more than great tunes, however, as it features activities like shopping at the Congo Square African Marketplace and the Louisiana Folklife Village. The event is truly a cultura staple of the greater New Orleans region.

Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival

Held in annually in mid-April, the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival is a member of the Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals and is hosted at various locations throughout downtown Ponchatoula.

It has been as staple of local flair and fun in Plantation Country for more than 40 years.

Specific must-see events at the festival include the Strawberry Eating Contest, the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival Parade, and the Strawberry Strut One Mile Fun Run, 5K, and 10K.

The community of Ponchatoula is just south of Hammond along Interstate 55.
