Chalmette National Cemetery
Nestled neatly on nearly 20 acres, the Chalmette National Cemetery is an official US National Cemetery found within the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve in Chalmette. The cemetery peacefully provides a resting place for over 15,000 veterans.
The cemetery runs adjacent to the Mississippi River and the Chalmette Battlefield – former site of the Battle of New Orleans. Visitors are invited to view the gravestones up close and walk to the top of the obelisk monument for excellent views of the entire Chalmette National Historical Park.
