Visit Jean Lafitte Park in Louisiana
Jean Lafitte Park is quite massive with six sites in total right within and around the New Orleans area. The park was named for the French-American Privateer, Jean Lafitte and it has over 20,000 acres of parkland. Get yourself ready for a full day of activities while visiting this park.
Your entire entourage will find something to do at the park. In Lafayette, which is a college town, you’ll find the Acadian Cultural Center. Explore the origins of the Acadians via multimedia displays. Take a boat tour with a ranger to explore the Bayou Vermillion close to the area.
Learn more about the Cajun heritage by visiting the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center. You’ll get a full selection of dance and music workshops or take in a performance or two. Be sure not to miss the “Cajun Way” demonstration.
Take a tour of the wetlands offered up at the Barataria Preserve. This has 30 acres of wetlands that are ready for you to become an explorer.
