Visit These Nine Louisiana Racetracks
Plan your next visit to Louisiana and explore these exciting race tracks. Whether you're into stock car racing, or the free-flowing fun of the dirt track circuit, explore these excellent Louisiana race tracks.
1. BOOTHILL SPEEDWAY
Start your hot rod adventure in northern Louisiana at the Boothill Speedway. Found just minutes west of downtown Shreveport in the city of Greenwood, Boothill Speedway hosts a number of top dirt races throughout the year. In late August, you can check out the annual Battle of Boothill, and in early September, don't miss the Louisiana Dirt Track State Championship.
2. TWIN CITY MOTORSPORTS PARK
Continue exploring northern Louisiana and head for Monroe. Almost directly a straight shot east from Shreveport and Minden, Monroe is home to the Twin City Motorsports Park. Drive in from West Monroe or Bastrop and a wide range of events on Mud Track or the Drag Track. Keep an eye out for Race for the Cure Day Souther Super Ten's.
3. THUNDER ROAD RACEWAY PARK
Enjoy one of the premier drag racing experience in the entire state; visit Thunder Road Raceway Park in Gilliam. Another ideal way to experience auto racing in northern Louisiana, Thunder Road Raceway Park is an easy drive from Mansfield. Check out the Need 4 Speed T&T races, a revolving series throughout the year.
4. REVOLUTION PARK
Another top race venue in Monroe, the Revolution Park Racing and Entertainment Complex features races in a wide rage of classes – Thunder Stock, Bandoleros, Compact, Pro Late Model, and even Factory Stock. Drive in from nearby Delhi and experience the excitement yourself at Revolution Park.
5. LEESVILLE 171
Host of the annual Doris Dowden Memorial Race, the Leesville 171 is a premier dirt track in the state. At the Leesville 171, kids five years and younger get in free, so a trip with the whole family is a breeze. Your visit to Leesville and central LA should yield some exciting races at the Leesville 171. Drive in from nearby Deridder.
6. FOREST HILL SPEEDWAY
Stick to central LA and head to Forest Hill. You'll want to experience the action at Forest Hill Speedway, one of the premier 1/4-mile, high banked, oval dirt tracks in the state. Saturday nights at Forest Hill is when you'll find the most intense action from Street Stocks, Super Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Modified. Visit from nearby central LA cities Alexandria or Oakdale.
7. BATON ROUGE RACEWAY
Make your way into Plantation Country and visit Baton Rouge and visit the Baton Rouge Raceway. Known as "Fastest family fun in town," the Baton Rouge Raceway is easily accessed from neighbor cities like Zachary, Denham Springs, and Gonzales. You'll find a variety of race events all year long at Baton Rouge Raceway, including the Louisiana State Championship.
8. A1 RACEWAY
As you venture into the New Orleans area, be sure to visit Lacombe and check out the A1 Raceway. Found almost directly between Slidell and Covington, the A1 Raceway is 3/8-mile clay oval track. This dirt track near New Orleans is an ideal destination for race fans in the area. With races happening during most weekends at A1 Raceway, you're likely to find just the ticket on your next visit to New Orleans.
9. NOLA MOTORSPORTS PARK
Before you conclude your race track exploration in Louisiana, be sure to take in a race or two at the NOLA Motorsports Park. Another top racing destination in the New Orleans area, NOLA Motorsports Park is a short drive from Metairie, Westwego, Harvey, and Chalmette. Unlike the other racetracks in Louisiana, the NOLA Motorsports Park hosts an annual IndyCar race.
State Capitol Raceway
Built in the late 1970s, the State Capitol Raceway in Port Allen is a 1/4 mile drag strip with IHRA Drag Racing sanctioning.
Races are scheduled throughout the year, including the Test-N-Tune, Cajun Super Series, and Ironman Classic events.
The raceway is renowned for hosting the Mardi Gras Nitro Jam annually in March.
Likewise, State Capitol has become a staple among race fans in Plantation Country, and was even seen in the popular 2005 film "the Dukes of Hazzard."
