Historic Sites
Also known as the Old Capitol Museum, the Old Mississippi State Capitol in downtown Jackson is the most historic building in the Magnolia State. Listed as a National Historic Landmark, this building was the site of the 1839 Married Women’s Property Act, Mississippi’s secession from the Union in 1861, and the crafting of the 1868 and 1890 state constitutions. The Old Capital is the oldest building in Jackson, Mississippi.
Outdoor Adventure
You will want to carve out a full day to spend on the waters of the Ross Barnett Reservoir. Launch a ski boat and go tubing and skiing, hop on a pontoon with family and cruise around, or head up the Pearl River for a relaxing lunch on a sandbar. You can also pull right up and dock your boat for lunch or a snack at Pelican Cove Grill and enjoy the scenic views of the Reservoir.
Golf
There is no shortage of great golf courses to be played in the Capital-River region of Mississippi. The Randy Watkins Golf Group is comprised of three of the top golf courses in the area: Lake Caroline Golf Club, Whisper Lake Country Club, and Patrick Farms Golf Club. Another fantastic course in the reservoir area is Bay Pointe Country Club. The fairways are lined with tall pine trees, so make sure your tee shots are accurate!
