Gulf Islands National Seashore

Visit the Gulf Islands National Seashore and explore over 160 miles of the beautiful Gulf of Mexico coastline. The Mississippi District is made up of two barrier islands, named East Ship Island and West Ship Island, collectively named Ship Island – and managed by the National Park Service. Gulf Islands National Seashore offers plenty of outdoor recreation for visitors, like hiking and bird watching, aquatic adventure like fishing, swimming, and snorkeling, and a pretty cool historic site.

Head to Davis Bayou Area for nature trails, playgrounds, boardwalks, and boat launches. Enjoy swimming and snorkeling on West Ship Island after a quick ferry ride from the Gulfport Yacht Harbor. And explore Historic Fort Massachusetts – built in 1859 and found on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Sign up for walking tours like the 30-minute Walk on the Wild Side and the 30-minute Dynamic Beauty Tour – or try Davis Bayou Kayaking 101. Kids enjoy the Junior Ranger Program, Creature Feature, Short Stories with Sharon, and Reading with Mr. Ron & His Raccoon.
