Interstate 55 should certainly be a main byway, along with Highway 61 and Highway 278 – all three yield quick and easy access to many of the top sites and attractions in this impressive National Heritage Area. Wherever you choose to explore, make the most of your time within the Delta Region of Mississippi.

Attractions & Activities

The Mississippi Delta NHA has one goal in mind – to preserve the culture and history which so deeply resonates within the region today. From the iconic blues music and Civil War heritage sites, to exceptional state parks and wildlife areas, the whole family will enjoy a tour of the region.

Plan a trip to the Indianola area for early October and check out the annual Highway 61 Blues Festival. A two-day event, the Highway 61 Blues Festival is one of the premier music attractions along the Delta Region. Head for the Warfield Point Park in Greenville where the concerts are usually held over the first weekend in October.

The Mississippi Blues Trail is a continuing project sanctioned by the Mississippi Blues Commission. The objective of this project is to highlight important sites and areas of interest across Mississippi pertaining to the birth and growth of blues music. Within the Delta region, you'll find a wide range of designated sites – don't miss the WROX Museum in Clarksdale, Freedom Village in Greenville, the Hollywood Cafe in Tunica Resorts, or the Muddy Waters Birthplace.
