When you plan on visiting northern MS, be sure to head for Tupelo. While it is certainly a pleasant city, it also yields a short drive to the very fun and popular J.P. Coleman State Park.

You'll find 13 miles of hiking trails guiding you in and around the Appalachian Mountains – Chickasaw Trail is a very popular trail.

Along the Mississippi River Delta, plan on visiting Natchez, one of the southwestern most cities in MS. Once there, head for the Natchez State Park and check out the 9-hole Disc Golf course, miles of hiking trails, and in October don't miss the annual Mississippi Balloon Race – a Natchez tradition.

In central MS, the options are plentiful. You can head for Golden Memorial State Park in Walnut Grove, which is found almost directly between Meridian and Canton. Once there, be sure to hike the Loblolly Trail, featuring the 2nd biggest pine tree in MS.

Just outside of Flowood and a short drive from downtown Jackson, plan a visit to Lefleur's Bluff State Park, another of the central MS state parks you can choose from. You can fish at Mayes Lake, play more disc golf at their nine-hole course, or hike around any of the trails – with more than 300 acres of total land, you won't be disappointed.

If your travel plans have you visiting the southern areas of MS, find your way to McComb, home of the Percy Quin State Park. With more than 1,700 acres of land, Percy Quin State Park is one of the biggest in the state. Visit soon and check out the always popular summer spot, Lake Tangipahoa.

No matter which season of the year you plan on visiting, and regardless of where in the state, you'll find impressive and scenic state parks sure to create long lasting memories for you and the family.
