Hotels in New Jersey
The Garden State heats up for winter visitors. Maybe it's Atlantic City, New Jersey's southern region, or Newark and the northern New Jersey area – any direction, New Jersey offers a full palette of winter activities, including kid-friendly options. Winters are cold in New Jersey, so don't forget your scarf, gloves, and a warm coat.
Skiers enjoy choices around the state. Northern New Jersey's Vernon – less than an hour from Pompton Plains and Ramsey – is home to the Mountain Creek Ski Resort; Terrain Park features two dedicated high-speed quad lifts, and 18 dedicated park trails. Closer to Ramsey, ski Campgaw Mountain in Mahwah.
For indoor fun, head into Newark and visit the Newark Museum. Sports fans are in luck, too, as the rush of college basketball takes over Newark. The Rutgers University Scarlet Knights battle through the competitive Big East Conference – visit the Louis Brown Athletic Center and catch a game as they fight for a ticket to the Big Dance. Since you're so near campus, be sure to also visit the Rutgers Geology Museum.
New Jersey is home to Atlantic City, with it's casinos, shows and attractions – a great bet, even in winter. If casinos aren't your game, you can enjoy fine cuisine during Atlantic City Restaurant Week. Check out the Borgata Comedy Club, or when late night calls for a party scene, don't miss the Toga Bar at Caesars. Nearby Abescon and Pleasantville are great ways to experience the thrills of AC, and stay outside Atlantic City.
