Plan your next visit to Virginia and head to the western region. You'll find a variety of excellent race tracks, each hosting a wide range of top auto races in the area. From Waynesboro to Callaway, plenty of charming cities in between, and tracks like the Rolling Thunder Raceway, your next visit to western Virginia should yield some time spent watching the races.
In the city of Waynesboro you'll find the Eastside Speedway. An easy drive in from nearby Ruckersville, Harrisonburg, and Zion Crossroads, the Eastside Speedway features a 1/8-mile dragstrip, a 4/10-mile oval dirt track, and a 1/4-mile go-kart track. Admission charges for the varied events differ. Each October, Eastside Speedway hosts the Sunco Fall Classic race, with Super Late Models, and Steel Block Bandit Late Models.
Continue exploring western Virginia and experience the raw, horsepowered-energy at the South Boston Speedway. Known as America's Hometown Track, South Boston Speedway was established in 1957, and hosts a number of different races, including some NASCAR dates. Don't miss the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour 150 in September.
Race fans from all across the country know about Martinsville Speedway. Opened in 1947, Martinsville Speedway is a top race destination in the country – it hosts premier events like the STP 500, a great NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. Visit from nearby Danville or Hillsville.
Other races of note held at Martinsville Speedway include the Kroger 250 and Kroger 200, both NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races. Many race fans flock to the Ridgeway, by way of Radford or Roanoke, to snatch up tickets for other top events like the Goody's Headache Relief Shot 500, and the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300, part of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.
