Discover Beautiful Maine Gardens
Discover the beautiful botanical gardens and collection of more than 300 species of plants at Viles Arboretum. This popular Maine attraction was known as the Pine Tree State Arboretum and is open year-round to showcase native plants, flowers, and foliage. The destination encompasses more than 224 acres and houses permanent collections, including the Daughters of the American Revolution Historical Gardens and the Conifer Collection. The largest collection is the Urban & Community Forestry Demonstration Area and you can spend a few hours strolling through the area to make the most of your visit.
Admission is free and you’ll find plenty of other sites to see and explore around Augusta during your visit. You can spend some time exploring more than five miles of trails around the gardens any time of year. The gardens also host special events throughout the year, including yoga classes, pollination celebrations, and artist workshops during certain seasons. Be sure to check out the Viles Arboretum Art Trail, the largest permanent outdoor display of art in Maine, during your visit.
