Ski Areas in Massachusetts

Massachusetts is home to many ski areas throughout the state. Western Massachusetts features the Butternut Ski Area and Jiminy Peak, while visitors and residents of Boston can flock to the Bradford Ski Area or the Blue Hills Ski Area once the snow starts to fall.

Jiminy Peak Ski Area

Northwestern Massachusetts features a fabulous ski resort and summer-time recreation area, in the Taconic Mountains. The Jiminy Peak Ski Area encompasses 170 skiable acres northwest of Pittsfield, near Hancock. The resort features forty-five runs for skiers and three terrain parks for snowboarders. The nine chair lifts provide access up 1,150 feet to the top elevation of 2,380 feet, while the two surface lifts provide access to the beginner area. Try riding the Winter Mountain Coaster, one of only a few in the country, featuring 3,600 feet of twists and turns in the woods.

Nashoba Valley Ski Area

Since 1964, skiers in northeast Massachusetts have enjoyed winter-time fun in Westford, at a wonderful ski area. The Nashoba Valley Ski Area, located northwest of Concord, offers fun not only in the winter, but the summer too. During the winter, the resort features seventeen trails accessible by three triple chairs, one double chair, two conveyers and three tow ropes. The terrain park includes rails, jumps and boxes, ready for snowboarding action. The resort's snowtubing park is the largest in the New England area, with more than 600 snowtubes flying down sixteen lanes.

The resort provides private and group lessons, in addition to a variety of programs. Take a break and satisfy your appetite in The Outlook Restaurant, at the base of the resort. Summer-time fun includes day camps, festivals and delicious drinks and food at the Sunset Tiki Bar. Nighttime fun includes the Nightmare Mansion, Castle Morbid and Witch's Woods Haunted Hayrides. Ski Bradford

Just south of the Merrimack River lies a wonderful ski area, ready for action. Ski Bradford, located in Haverhill, is the place for winter-time fun. The resort features thirteen ski runs over 48 acres, accessible by three triple chair lifts, three rope tows and one T-bar. As many as 9,600 skiers each hour, hit the runs for a fun ride down Dead Hill. Snowboarders love practicing their best moves in the terrain park, full of jumps, rails and boxes.

For those ready to learn how to master the skills, Ski Bradford provides a variety of private lessons, group lessons and programs. Rental gear is also available from the lodge. Take a break from the action and grab a bite to eat from the snack bar, in the lodge at the base of the hill.
