Walk the Trails of New York’s Buckhorn Island State Park

Spend a day out in western New York and visit Buckhorn Island State Park, set between Niagara Falls and Buffalo. Serving as an exhibit of the Niagara River wetlands and managed as a preserve, there is ample recreational space along the 895-acre preservation featuring marsh, meadows, and woodland habitats.

Go snowshoeing. Have a cross-country ski along five miles of the Long Trail. Try your hand at fishing, kayaking, and canoeing on the Niagara River. Enjoy the hiking, biking, and nature trails.

Birdwatchers are in for a real treat as there are 25 species of waterfowl and 19 species of gull; nearly half of the global gull species. Part of the park has been set aside as a bird conservation area and threatened species in New York; such as the least bittern, northern harrier, common tern, and sedge wren; are found there.

Buckhorn is very pet-friendly as well so your furry friends are welcome as long as you have it on a leash.
