Ride Richland to Ellensburg

Total Miles: 153 | Approximately 3 Hours

Take a motorcycle trip from the Tri-City Area to Moses Lake and Ellensburg in scenic south-central Washington.

Start in the wine-friendly Tri-City area – comprised of Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland on the banks of the Columbia River.

Explore Badger Mountain Vineyard or stop by Rattlesnake Mountain Harley-Davidson before heading north on U.S. Highway 395 – and see if you can't ride out over Kennewick's famed Ed Hendler cable bridge.

Plenty of outdoor adventure can be found on this ride through south-central Washington – a particularly sunny region of the Evergreen State so don't forget the shades.

Take a left at Othello – about 60 miles north – for the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge, or stop for a picnic lunch at the many parks along the way, including Scooteney Park, Potholes State Park, and Moses Lake State Park.

Then hang a left onto Interstate 90 once you reach Moses Lake. Head west on Interstate 90 for about 70 miles, and you’ll be cruising toward the Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park on the Columbia River, the scenic Boylston Mountains, and eventually Ellensburg.

Home to Central Washington University, Ellensburg is a great stop for lunch – or even a few days if you catch the Ellensburg Rodeo if you happen to be riding during Labor Day Weekend.

If you plan to complete the loop, it’s only about a two-hour ride back to Richland. Once you’ve explored the lively town of Ellensburg, be sure to locate Interstate 82 and head south along the Yakima River.

I-82 also leads riders toward Yakima – a lively Washington city home to the Central Washington State Fair.

Gear the gear at Owens Yamaha, Suzuki, Harley-Davidson, roar passed or explore cities like Sunnyside and Prosser, and find yourself in the Tri-City area by sundown.
