Great Shopping in Nebraska
Stores through Nebraska make it easy to buy anything you might need on your travels, as well as collect some souvenirs. The state's many farms mean farmers' markets with homemade preserves are readily at hand.
Old Market
There's a great farmers market in Omaha's Old Market on Saturday, but you can visit the market any day. You'll find great shopping, food, and entertainment when you roam Old Market. Not just a shop, the Old Market is an entire historic neighborhood whose cobblestoned streets form a pathway to fun.
Search out special souvenirs at the antique shops and art galleries in the Old Market. You'll also find craft shops and boutiques in the market's historic warehouses.
And even if you steer clear of shopping attractions to protect your pocketbook, there's no reason to avoid the Old Market. Take advantage of great offers like free pasta refills at Spaghetti Works, a free souvenir ornament at Old Market Sundries, and free fudge at Old Market Candy Shop.
Haymarket
Another great historic shopping district is the Haymarket in Lincoln. There are great boutiques, specialty shops, and antique dealers. The district also has dining and entertainment options, ranging from clubs to an Escape Room and ice skating. The From Nebraska Gift Shop is a great place to stop in for Nebraska food baskets and made-in-the-state souvenirs. From Nebraska Gift Shop also features a tasting room from James Arthur Vineyards, the state's largest winery.
Specialty Shops
If you have a special interest, make your way to these shops.
Pick up all your wool and knitting needs at the Brown Sheep Co. Mill Store in Mitchell, which is attached to the mill. The store sells seconds and unique hand-painted yarns that aren't found anywhere else. If you're a quilter, Cottage Inspirations in Nasby has supplies plus decorative items to give your room a homey look.
Pick up some vintage tunes on vinyl at Drastic Plastic in Omaha, then find vintage fashion at Yesterday's Lady in Beatrice. The shopping experience is like stepping back in time, with the vintage shop housed in a restored building from 1887.
For high-end fashion, pop into Margie Trembley Chapeaux. The designer's extraordinary hats have been featured on Vogue.com and other fashionable sites.
Fort Cody Trading Post is both a shop and a roadside attraction. Check out Buffalo Bill's Wild West in Miniature and the Old West Exhibit before you hit the gift shop.
Mall Shopping
Near Omaha in Gretna, Nebraska Crossing Outlets features 80 great top brands at a discount, including Coach, Cole Haan, and Kate Spade.
Go upscale at Regency in the center of Omaha. The mall is home to Borsheim's Fine Jewelry, the country's biggest independent jewelry store, as well as other local and national shops. With a pond and waterfall, shopping here is relaxing, not stressful!
Lincoln's Gateway Mall's stores have everything you need, as do Oak View and Westroads malls in Omaha. The food hall at Westroads offers a fun, fast-casual dining experience. Combine your meal with a movie in the mall's theater for a great, easy date.
