Fargo is one of the more contemporary cities in North Dakota, home of the Plains Art Museum, Fargo Air Museum, Red River Zoo and dozens of locally owned boutiques and stores. You’ll also find some great restaurants here and plenty of sporting events to enjoy throughout the year.
Thousands of visitors make their way to North Dakota for rodeo celebrations, the Fargo Marathon, art and music festivals, and sports tournaments. From the agricultural expo to the Grand Cities Art Fest, you’ll never be at a loss of interesting things to do throughout the year.
The city of Minot is best known for being the home of the Minot Air Force Base but it’s been nicknamed The Magic City for a reason. You can learn about North Dakota’s rich aviation history with a tour of the Dakota Territory Air Museum. Make a trip to the Scandinavian heritage Park to see traditional houses and a wooden church from days gone by.
The capital city of Bismarck is where you’ll find government buildings and other historic sites that tell the story of North Dakota’s rich history. It’s not too far from the Missouri River and you can visit the State Capitol building for a tour or explore the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum nearby.
Many people head to North Dakota only during the winter months to enjoy some snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and other winter activities. You can make your way to one of several state parks across North Dakota to enjoy a few hours of sledding, ice skating, downhill skiing, or even snowmobiling shortly after the winter season officially arrives. Many attractions are open seasonally and you can head to indoor waterparks or trampoline parks on colder days.
