Discover some of North Dakota’s most beautiful plants and flowers at local botanical gardens and attractions. When you’re in Minot, take a tour of the International Peace Garden that encompasses more than 2,330 acres of land. It’s located on the United States and Canadian border and you can’t miss the giant peace towers that stand between the border. Get a picture of the giant floral clock that features more than 150,000 blooming flowers in a variety of colors. The garden is one of the most relaxing and tranquil places in the region and a must-visit destination when in Minot.
When you’re in Fargo during the warmer months, take a tour of the Northern Plains Botanic Garden to explore eight different themed gardens. A Japanese garden is in the works, but you can visit the Alphabet Garden and other themed plots to see a variety of species of flowers, plants, and shrubs from around the region.
World Peace is alive in northern North Dakota near Minot. The 2,339 acre International Peace Garden is situated along the United States and Canadian border. This unique park was established in 1932 as a symbol of peace and friendship. The park features 150,000 flowers, planted each year along with the beautiful 18-foot floral clock. Be sure to see the four, 120 foot peace towers – two in the United States and two in Canada.
Stroll the grounds to see the peace chapel at the base of the towers, the fountains and the bell tower. The bell tower contains the Arma Sifton tower bells given to the park by the Central United Church of Brandon in Manitoba. Schedule plenty of time in the park to also see the remains of the World Trade Center attacks, from September 11, 2001 and the North American Game Warden Museum.
Spanning over 50 acres, the Northern Plains Botanic Garden is located in Fargo in eastern North Dakota. Established in 1998, this non-profit garden is still in development, and also features classes, workshops, and events.
The Northern Plains Botanic Garden is a collection of eight gardens: Woodland Garden, Alerus Financial Butterfly Garden, Chrysanthemum Test Garden, Alphabet Garden, Rain Garden, Turnaround Garden, Seeds of Opportunity Garden, and the Hummingbird Patio – plus the upcoming Japanese-style Garden of Mind and Soul.
