Hockey in North Dakota
Ice hockey is one of the most popular spectator sports and activities in North Dakota. When you’re heading to the area during the late fall through spring months, catch some of the region’s top hockey teams in action.
Fargo and Bismarck are your top destinations for watching a home game at some of the region’s biggest arenas. The Bismarck Bobcats Hockey team is part of the North American Hockey League and have been playing in Bismarck since 1997. Make your way to the VFW Sports Center from September through March to catch a game on the weekend.
The Fargo Force plays at Scheels Arena, a Tier 1 junior ice hockey team in the Western Conference of the USHL. If you want to see some college hockey in action, The North Dakota Fighting Hawks men’s ice hockey team, part of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference, plays home matches at the University of North Dakota Grand Forks campus.
Bismarck Bobcats Hockey
Part of the 24-team North American Hockey League, the Bobcats have been slapping the puck in Bismarck, North Dakota since 1997. The Bismarck Bobcats play in the VFW Sports Center; their season runs from September through March (or later, depending on playoffs) and most – though not all – games take place on Fridays or Saturdays.
