Motor Speedways in North Dakota
Watch race cars make their way around the speedway at several destinations across the state. Whether you want to watch local races on the dragstrip at night or catch a regional competition, you’ll find a number of racetracks near major cities to watch an incredible race. The Dacotah Speedway in Mandan is a popular destination near Bismarck. The Southwest Speedway in Dickinson is another 3/8-mile dirt and clay oval racing venue.
If you want to see Stock Cars and modified vehicles, catch a show at The Wiliston Basin Speedway. This 1/3-mile dirt track hosts many special events throughout the year, including Demolition Derbies and other specialty vehicles. You can head to the North Dakota State Fairgrounds in Minot from May to September to watch races at the Magic City International Dragway. This is one of the most well-known racing destinations in the region and hosts races on Friday nights and on weekends.
Racing fan? Dacotah Speedway is a 3/8-mile dirt and clay oval hosting a variety of races during its operating season. The raceway is found in Mandan – separated from Bismarck, North Dakota by the Missouri River. Found by Interstate 94, Dacotah Speedway is neighbored by the Prairie West Golf Course and the Mandan Soccer Complex.
Magic City International Dragway
Found by Highway 83, the Magic City International Dragway is located on the North Dakota State Fairgrounds in Minot, North Dakota. Along with the Nodak Speedway, Magic City International Dragway is an IHRA-sanctioned 1/8 mile dragstrip. May through September, they offer five classes of racing with special events also taking place. Magic City International Dragway races take place Friday nights and weekends.
Found by Highway 52, this 3/8 mile dirt/clay oval offers racing action with Hobby Stocks, INEX Legends, IMCA Stocks and IMCA Modifieds races. Set in western Minot, North Dakota, the Nodak Speedway features most events on Sunday nights during the summer.
Attention race fans! Dickinson features a 3/8-mile dirt and clay oval at Southwest Speedway. Check out all the events at this North Dakota raceway from April through September. Found easily by Interstate 94, Southwest Speedway is sanctioned by IMCA Racing, and associated with the Roughrider Racing Association.

The Williston Basin Speedway is a 1/3-mile dirt track featuring IMCA Hobby Stock, Northern Sport mods, Stock Cars, and modifieds. Set in Williston, North Dakota, the speedway yields special events include Demolition Derbies and Late Model Specials.
