Wind Cave National Park
Officially the fifth longest cave in the world, Wind Cave National Park was first discovered in 1881 and contains passages over 300 million years old. The cave, located near Custer in the Badlands region of South Dakota, features the incredible and rare "boxwork" formations.
Visit the park Visitor Center to schedule a guided cave tour to experience the 136 miles of passages. Spend time in the Visitor Center to view the exhibits, videos, books and maps, or explore the park's top-side 30 miles of hiking trails and nature trails.
