Tour Popular Colorado Government Sites & Buildings

The State Capitol in downtown Denver is one of the most impressive government sites and buildings in Colorado. Located on Colfax Avenue, the National Historic Landmark houses the Colorado General Assembly and the offices of the governor and lieutenant governor. Tours of the building are offered year-round. Highlights include the 16 stained glass windows and the interior decorated with Colorado rose onyx. Be sure to visit the Hall of Fame for exhibits on the state’s heroes and pioneers.

Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora is part of the Air Force Space Command and home to over 92,000 active duty personnel. Considered one of the Denver area’s top military and contractor centers, the base hosts the 460th Space Wing and Operations Group and the Colorado Air National Guard 120th Fighter Squadron. The Visitor Center is open daily.

The Denver Mint is located at 320 W. Colfax Avenue in historic downtown Denver. Built in 1897, it is one of several mints located in the United States. Coins produced at the Denver facility are easily identifiable by the “D” imprinted on them. On the 45-minute tour you’ll see how coins and bills are created under authorization of the U.S. Treasury.
