Embark On An Exciting Railway Adventure In Colorado
As you explore the diverse regions of the state, save time for a thrilling railway adventure in Colorado. The Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad is America’s longest and highest narrow gauge railroad. Traveling between southern Colorado and Northern New Mexico for over 100 years, the historic train offers stunning views of the Rocky Mountain countryside. Board the train in Antonito, Colorado and travel to Chama, New Mexico from May through mid-October. Highlights of the trip include crossing the 800-ft. deep Toltec Gorge, passing through two tunnels and traversing the 137-ft. tall Cascade Trestle.
The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railway has delighted train enthusiasts since the 1880s. Passengers on the historic train enjoy stunning views of the Animas River and San Juan National Forest. Throughout the year the railroad offers special events including the Polar Express, The Pumpkin Patch Express, Durango Brew Train and the Full Moon Ghost Crawl.
The Georgetown Loop Railroad, completed in 1884, takes passengers from Georgetown to Silver Plume. The fun train ride crosses Clear Creek via four bridges and passengers experience horseshoe curves, stunning scenery and a tour of the 1870s Lebanon Silver Mine at the halfway point.
