You’ll find many opportunities to see wildlife and zoos in Colorado. Choose from family-friendly attractions including wildlife sanctuaries, aquariums and even a butterfly habitat.
The Denver Zoo at City Park is home to more than 4000 animals from 650 species. See Asian elephants, western lowland gorillas, African lions, komodo dragons and a variety of animal shows and interactive exhibits.
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs is the nation’s only mountain zoo. Situated at 6,800 ft., it offers panoramic views of the city and a chance to view 750 animals. Hand-feed giraffes, ride the antique carousel or enjoy the Mountaineer Sky Ride.
The Pueblo Zoo is open daily year-round. See more than 400 animals and 120 species in natural habitats, gardens and exhibits.
Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center offers tours Tuesday through Sunday. Located off Twin Rocks Road just outside Divide, the sanctuary offers a chance to see wolves, foxes and coyotes up close.
The Butterfly Pavilion in Westminster is a tropical conservatory with more than 1600 butterflies, moths and skippers from all over the world.
