Castlewood Canyon State Park

Set in central Colorado, Castlewood Canyon State Park is located less than 20 minutes from Castle Rock – just south of the Denver metropolitan area.

Established in 1964, this Colorado state park is home to several historic sites, including the famed Castlewood Canyon Dam and the historic Cherry Creek Bridge.

Calling all outdoor enthusiasts – Castlewood Canyon State Park features plenty of hiking and rock climbing in this 2,000-acre playground.

Visitors may look forward to scenic views of Cherry Creek and the Bridge Canyon Overlook in this pet-friendly day park – open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Hikers may take advantage of 15 miles of trail – so trek down the one-mile Canyon View Nature Trail, the two-mile Rimrock Trail, and the four-mile East Canyon Preservation Trail. Rock climbers, look forward to a journey up Shakespearean Theater, Porky’s Wall, Vulture Wall, and Morning Sun Wall – plus many others.

Other park activities include bird watching, wildlife viewing, picnicking, and nature photography. Outdoor education is also available, as are small park exhibits at the Visitor Center.

Cherry Creek State Park

One of Aurora's most popular parks, Cherry Creek preserves and presents much of the the Denver metro area's famous outdoor recreation. With a great big lake in the center and plenty of wooded areas, the park is a great outdoor destinations in the summer and in the winter.

Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre
