While there's a wealth of ways to enjoy any visit to southern Colorado, it's the outdoor winter recreation that'll have you coming back for more.
From the Four Corners out to Alamosa and beyond, you'll find a stunning amount of thrills this winter in southern Colorado. Make the most of your next visit to the area with days filled with ice fishing, snowmobiling, and skiing.
Enjoy a stay in Durango which yields easy access to the exceptional Telluride Ski Resort. Widely considered to be one of the premier skiing destinations in the U.S., Telluride boasts more than 2,000 skiable acres, with runs fit for all skill levels.
Since its first ski lift was installed in 1972, Telluride has been thrilling southern Colorado's winter visitors with excitement-filled days. Make your way to TopAten Snowshoe and Nordic Area where you'll find more than six miles of groomed, bounding trails.
Because Telluride is so massive, you can also try some snowmobiling during your visit. You'll have a chance to explore the lesser visited areas of Telluride's backcountry. There are three different snowmobile trips available: the Half Day Family Friends Tour, the Half Day Advanced Tour, and the Full Day Offer, which takes you to Dunton Hot Springs.
Closer to downtown Durango, find even more snowmobiling. Check out the West Mancos Trail, a nearly 40-mile loop which takes you through stunning meadows, and will weave you through forested areas. The Missionary Ridge Trail is another excellent choice in Durango when you're looking to go full throttle on your snowmobile.
If you seek more subdued thrills, make your way to Pueblo. Here, you can spend a day ice fishing on Lake Pueblo. Once temperatures hit the freezing mark throughout Pueblo, the lake yields healthy bounties of walleye.
