Tour Government Sites and Buildings in Idaho
When you are in Boise, a trip to the Idaho State Capitol Building is a “must.” Take a guided tour from the Garden Level, or enjoy a self-guided trip through the history exhibits in the central rotunda and the impressive grounds. Architecture buffs will love examining this fine example of neoclassical architecture, completed in 1912, designed by John E. Tourtellotte and Charles Hummel. Marvel at the 208-foot dome before enjoying the many statues throughout the site, including a gilded George Washington statue that draws the crowds. Three former Presidents (Taft, Harrison and Theodore Roosevelt) planted trees throughout the property, which are still thriving.
The powerful Dworshak Dam in Orofino, Idaho welcomes more than 110,000 tourists every year. Impounding the Clearwater River, the Dam generates not only significant power every year, but it has also created a recreation destination. Visitors flock here to go hiking, water-skiing, boating, fishing, and more.
