Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail Interpretive Center

History buffs wanting to learn more about the exploration of the Western United States, should be thankful for the dedication and ambition of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark and their team of people. The Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail commemorates their exploration of eleven states, covering 3,700 miles, including Montana, from 1804 to 1806.

Their mission was to study geography and potential areas for economic growth, as directed by former President Thomas Jefferson. The explorers made their way through what is now Montana, including the cities of Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls, Helena and Missoula. Montana travelers searching for more information on this historical journey, should plan to visit the Lewis and Clark National Historic Interpretive Center, in Great Falls for more information.
