Montana’s Wide-Open Spaces Give Golfers Plenty of Room to Roam

Linksters here have a lot of play to choose from, including courses at world-class four-season resorts and quiet tees with small town charm and rock-bottom prices.

Laurel Golf Course, southwest of Billings, presents players with 18 holes stretching 6,923 yards and a par of 72. The course offers long-range mountain views with links placed between evergreens and maples. The course opened in 1967 and is known as a field for serious players.

In north-central Montana, Shelby’s Marias Valley Golf Course has 18 championship holes and ranks as one of the best in the state. Four sets of tees challenge golfers of all abilities, and the surrounding plains and river valley present unmatched views.

In Missoula, golfers can choose from several spots – Canyon River is an upscale club while the University of Montana course offers open play for all and a dramatic setting at the foot of Mt. Sentinel and Linda Vista sports a mountainside location.

Eastern Montana is full of great spots. The Sidney Country Club features wide-open prairie views. The Havre area has three courses to choose from – Prairie Farms, Chinook, and the beautiful Beaver Creek Golf Course.

Laurel Golf Club

Opened in 1967, Laurel Golf Club is located in southern Montana in the city of Laurel. Found easily by Interstate 94, the Laurel Golf Club is an 18-hole regulation length course with a par of 72.

The Laurel golf course features 6,915 yards of golf, with a course rating of 71.3 and a slope rating of 122. Set on blue grass, the Laurel course also yields a 25-tee driving range.

Marias Valley Golf Course

Make your travel plans for northern Montana and head for Shelby. A quaint and charming city, Shelby is home of the Marias Valley Golf Course, an ideal afternoon activity destination. With stunning views of the open pastures of northern Montana and 18 holes weaving and darting through terrain, keep your head down and follow through when you play the Marias Valley Golf Course.

A par 72, 18-hole course featuring 6,779 yards of well groomed fairways, bunkers, water, and greens, the Marias Valley Golf Course is one of the top courses in the area. Opened in 1969, Marias Valley Gof Course is part of the Marias Valley Country Club, but you don't need to be a member to play – the course is open to the public.
