Enjoy The Stunning Natural Bridges National Monument
If your travels take you to the Lake Powell area of Southern Utah, a trip to Natural Bridges National Monument is a “must.” Here, you can marvel at what erosion over millions of years has wrought in the form of the stunning natural bridge formations like Owachomo, Sipapu, and Kachina.
Begin your adventures by stopping in at the Visitor Center to get maps for the bridge hikes, a route for the 9-mile auto tour loop, information about the Monument itself and a schedule of the fascinating interpretive programs led by the Park Rangers.
For hikers, you have a number of well-marked paths to try. The 1.4-mile Kachina Bridge Trail has a mild elevation and takes you all around the Kachina Bridge. Hikers taking the one-mile Sipapu Bridge Trail get to experience the world’s second-largest natural bridge formation. The shortest of the hikes is the Owachomo Bridge Trail, which runs under a half-of-a-mile. At the top, you can see the “round rock” formations that give the bridge its Hopi name, as well as a view of The Bear’s Ears. Along the hiking trails, visitors are also treated to a glimpse of the Puebloan Horsecollar Ruin.
